Guide To Link Building | Link Building | Create Backlinks

Links(Anchor Text, Image, Forum, and Frame) tell search engines that there is a website. Without any link or website with zero(0) backlinks counts as spammy websites. And, generally, they are ignored by the search engines.

Types of Links

Well, here are 5 types of links.
  • Internal Links.
  • External Links.
  • Natural Links.
  • Manually Obtained Links.
  • Self-created Links.

Internal Links

Internal links are created when you link your website's other pages in your post. These links allow users to stay on your website as long as possible. As a result, they increase your website's authority. So, take advantage of using them.

External Links

External links (Generally called Outbound links or Backlinks) are the links that transfer your website users to another website. An outbound link is considered more productive because they increase your website visibility in search engines which makes your blog more authoritative.

Natural Links

Natural links are the links that you receive or can get from other web owners without you asking for them. This process indicates that your website's content is great for its readers.

It's the same goes for a natural link, your content is more valuable and people are willing to feature them. Other web owners redirect their readers to your website because your blog contains content they think is worth sharing.

Manually Obtained Links

Manually obtained links are created by our efforts. This means to say When we put our precious time and energy into contacting some bloggers as well as web owners so that they will link to us and as a result, your blog can gain more traffic.

Wondering! how to acquire them. you should show other bloggers/web owners that your content is too worthy for their readers.

One thing that is very very important in Manually Obtained links is that make sure to create links that are more relevant to your niche or your business otherwise it would not be good for your blog and as a result, your blog authority would not be increase as well.

Self-created Links

Self-created links are the links that are created by web owners for themselves. Generally, some people(web owners) think that they can fool Google. But that's not true or the legit way to create backlinks.

For Example, You can create (Self-created links) by just commenting in the comment box on a web post(Generally called Articles).

Pro-TIP:- You can create powerful backlinks by contacting web owners. It would be time-consuming but the legit way at all.

What is Link Building

Within link building plays a major role in terms of gaining organic traffic via search engines. Link building is the process of getting other websites to link to other pages on your own.

The biggest advantage of link building is to boost your website's authority in the eye of Google so that your website can gain more traffic organically.

Generally, link building strategies break down into two simple steps:-
1. Create something notable and Understandable.
2. Show to people who own websites.

Why Link Building is important?

Links are one of the three major factors from per SEO perspective. If you want to rank your website in the Google top 10 results. So, there is no doubt, you will need them.

Well, links are working as 'Votes' for websites in terms of Google. Behalf of these votes Google decides which website along with user's desired keyword need to be ranked in the top 10 results.

The general rule for ranking any website in the top 10 results for the desired keyword is totally based on the quality and quantity of the backlink as well.

You also can rank your website in the top 10 results. But you have to focus on backlinks and some other SEO factors like On-page SEO, Off-page SEO.

How to Build Them(Links)

The most useful and effective tactics fall into four categories.
Add. Manually add links to websites.
Ask. Contact web owners directly to ask for links.
Buy. Exchange money for links.
Earn. Get organic links from people who visit your blog.

In a nutshell, you can remember it as the acronym AABE.

Adding Links

You can link your website to others as well. With lots of techniques, you can do the same. And yeah, Some of them are as follows:

  1. Directory Submission
  2. Blog Commenting
  3. Social Pages Creation
  4. Posting Links into Forum, Communities, and Q&A Sites.
Creating links by doing such types of techniques is very easy. But these are maybe good signals for your blog but not all time. Even though these are not good techniques in Google eye(Generally, Ignored by Google or Google treat these links as SPAM)

You can get some limited traffic from these techniques because when you visit a website and put your blog name in the comment section.

So by that time, When other people also visit the same blog and when they see your blog name, so they can get some idea about to visit your blog.

But I suggest you personally, please don't adopt this technique, by doing this you can get some traffic but can't increase your ranking in SERPs.

Let's discuss the above techniques.

Directory Submission

Directory submission is the process of submitting your website to a list of catalog websites. Web directories provide links to websites to make browsing easier. You can manually link or edit your website with web directories.

But make sure don't make it more. If you submit your website within more web directories than needed definitely, there is no doubt that your website will affect in terms of SEO.

By doing the right method, your website might attract some limited but right audience to you.

Blog Commenting

You can leave any meaningful comment on someone's blog. You can use this step to make relationships with other bloggers as well.

Let's understand it by an example when you visit someone's blog and give an appropriate or meaningful comment/feedback so by that time, other bloggers(Under the niche you are working) also can visit your blog and if your blog post is meaningful to them directly they can give you a do-follow link.

So, do it only if you have some meaningful content otherwise leave it. Because if users visit your website explicitly and if they found your content which they don't like to read then what will happen.

As a result, it will affect your blog SEO. So take advantage of that but make sure to use the legit way.

NOTE:- Blog commenting and adding your links will not increase your ranking because Google and other search engines treat these links as no-follow or spammy(Only when you put your links into a blog that is not in your niche).

Social Page Creation

From the day when you start your blogging journey. Make sure to remember, create social pages for your blog because it will help your audience to reach you.

Claim your brand(website) name/link into them all, so search engines can help you in a more efficient way without approaching anyone for backlinks. Don't expect any sudden ranking from the social page creation because it will take some time to boost your ranking.

Create your social pages at
Facebook(Now, becomes Meta)
Instagram
Twitter
Pinterest

Posting Links Into Forum Sites

Forum sites like Quora and Medium and some others will help you to increase your website's visibility to search engines because when you create posts and also put the links of your posts into forum websites.

But it will take some time for your ranking.

Create a post or share links only for a matched query, not for questions(queries) that are not related to your posts/answers, as a result, they will treat your answers as spam.

Take advantage of forum sites but using with a good way.

Asking For Links

As its name suggests asking or approaching other bloggers to make connections, Most bloggers try to approach others for one or more backlinks with engrossing reasons.

Engrossing reasons means you are new to them and they probably don't want to link to you initially because you are neither a celebrity nor a sportsperson. But if you have then don't need to approach more to as.

Wondering! So, how it will happen. Follow these tactics.

  • Guest Blogging(Posting) = Create some useful content for them(Neighbour Bloggers).
  • Ego Bait = You can mention or link their piece of content in your post but in an efficient manner.
  • Testimonials = Give very positive feedback about their product or services.
  • Skyscraper Technique = Show them any better resource than the one they are linking to.
  • Link Exchange = Offer to link to them if they are linked to you.
  • Resource Page Linking = Show them resources that fit their content or piece of content.
  • Broken Link Building = You can also approach them not only for your linking but to fix dead links on their page.
  • Image Linking = Approach them to give some credit to use your creative images.
  • Unlinked Mentions = You can directly approach them to mention your brand name on their main or Home page or sub-pages.
  • Link Moves = Ask to make changes to an existing link.
  • Use HARO = Offer them 'true & immersive quotes' for their articles.

Buy Links

At this point, Personally, I don't want to recommend you to go some links selling websites. Ture statement of these sites is a total waste of time and money as well. Such kind of strategy for getting backlinks may be bad for your blog ranking. In a nutshell, these tactics are considered spam by the search engines like Google and others.

Keep away from them all. If you want to boost your blog ranking.

Earning Links

You can earn more links if your content is highly readable and grateful as compared to your competitors. Mean to say, your blog contains a very unique, immersive, and highly readable then there would be more chances that you can gain more backlinks which you had never thought of.

But how it will happen. The only strategy that you will need to follow i.e content promotion. Make sure to use this strategy and why I am suggesting you this technique because in the initial days most of the famous bloggers used this method.

This is also a cool strategy to gain more backlinks and more backlinks means more traffic you can expect. So keep moving.

Earning links is arguably the most effective way to get them.

What Makes A Good Link

Great links create great insights for your web page or the whole website. But exactly what is the process to measure whether how a link is important in terms of factor that is totally in hands of search engines. Only search engines know it better than individuals. Because the way which they are designed and developed for providing better results.

There are some general concepts of evaluating links that the SEO community believes to be true.

Authority
Relevance
Anchor Text
No-follow or Do-follow
Placement
Destination

1. Authority

Well, here are two types of authority; Page Authority and Domain(Whole Website) Authority

1.1 Page Authority

The Authority of a page is determined or analyzed only on the basis of how many websites have given a link to a particular page. A page having more backlinks tends to be more chances of ranking.

That's why many SEOs strives to acquire links from old pages with strong backlink profile. A link from such pages tends to bring more value than a link from any newly-published page that doesn't contain any backlinks of its own.

A newly-published page might gain some backlinks from such kinds of websites or blogs but the value it can gain from these links in the long run i.e. it can acquire traffic in the long run.

1.2 Website Authority

DA(Literally called Domain Authority) of any website has always measured the profile of backlinks it contains. Backlinks quality and quantity both are measured at this point.

DA is a metric that is first developed by MOZ that divine how likely a blog is to appear in SERPs compared to its competitors. DA can be a more useful metric to know the status of a website similar to its competitors. But most of the search engines are treated as non-ranking factors for SEO purposes.

Nowadays, the DA metric is not only used by the MOZ but some other research tools such as SEMrush(Designed & Developed by Their Own) i.e. a collection of algorithms that process data of backlinks, traffic, referring domains to understand and analyze the whole website to decide Authority Score.

For your better understanding or in a nutshell, just remember only that this metric only shows about whole strength of your blog or how healthy your website is.

Make sure if you ever get an opportunity for backlinks from a low authority website or from many sites in your niche. Don't neglect them in place of that accept them ASAP. Because when you got links to more websites despite that they tend to have low authority but these will help to strengthen your backlink profile and as a result, your DA will increase which means more authority.

2. Relevance

Well, Relevance and what the meaning of that is at this point. In a nutshell, I want to say if someone(in your niche) creates pages that are more relevant to your web page then it would be helpful for them and you also.

Make sure to focus to create some relevant pages for your blog and for others also means creating guest posts that are related to your blog's web pages.

3. Anchor Text

Anchor text is just only a snippet of text which contains any hyperlink within itself. Anchor text only describes what the linked page is about.

In fact, Google and other search engines analyze these anchor texts to understand what the page is about and how many referring domains are linked to that page.

Remember that if you give backlinks using the right keywords but with the wrong anchor text. For example, You gave a backlink to someone with the keyword "Best shoes under $100" but the link contains an article in a different niche then would be a chance that Google can penalize you for that.

So, keep away from such kinds of techniques.

For your better understanding just remember only that Anchor text is a clickable text which redirects you to another site or someone's blog.

4. Nofollow or Dofollow

Nofollow Links
As its name suggests that "Not Following". So, it means that it is a link attribute that tells Google and other search engines that the linking page would rather not give its vote to the page that it is referencing

Dofollow Links
Dofollow links are called votes in the eye of Google. Of course, these are the only ways by which we can increase the visibility of our blog in SERPs.

In a nutshell, a Dofollow link is a clickable piece of text that search engines understand and give more value than nofollow links as well.

5. Placement

A common rule, links within the content gets more clicks rather than sidebar or footer. This is why because content block gets more attention from visitors.

Another thing which can affect the CTR of a link is how high it appears. Visitors mostly like to click on the links that are appears inside the article initially rather than appears at the end.

6. Destination

When you building links to your website, these are three destination where you can point them.
1. At Homepage.
2. Within the Posts.

Homepage
You can setup some links of your posts at your blog's homepage. But this feature depends on which bogging platform, plugins and blog theme you are using.

Within the Posts
Make sure to follow this rule when you have two or more relevant posts. Because internal linking of your blog's posts increases the visibility in SEO.

If you have 10 or more relevant posts but you haven't done any internal linking yet then how algorithms will analyze your whole website for providing better results.

So make sure, to do internal linking as you can do but carefully. Because doing internal linking in wrong way might affect your whole website.
